The African Queen(1951)

The African Queen’s story is woven around a village located in German east africa in wayback 1914 . Opening scene with Samuel with her sister Rose doing prayer song with locales. They do missionary work & live happily .

Village having sideby river on which Captain Charlie (Humphrey Bogart) sails his boat named “african queen” & provide mails & other supply to live to them. One day Germans attack village & vanish it with fire . Poor heart Sam dies in shock . Charlie & Rose bury him & left village in boat.

During travel while chatting Charlie talks about German gunboat named “Empress Louisa” which patrol around lake & block british support. Hearing this Rose advice him to make torpedo & attack to gunboat to help their british counterpart. But, hard part is reach towards gunboat , they have to pass German security point. To make it more hurdle , journey also involve huge & dangerous rapids in their river way, so Charlie hesitate to follow the plan, but then agrees later.

Then their thunder journey follow the tracks with bullets from germans , crocodiles , rapids . Meanwhile it also shows how hard to handle Charlie’s african queen with releasing steem from boiler & other problems. Rose helps him & their rommance starts. After long time they reach lake’s nearby channel. But , due to mud their boat stops , for which they both tow by themselves to african queen to pull out of mud. Those scenes were really good.

And finally ,god also help them by rain & their boat comes out of mud ,pushing it towards their target. Rose & Charlie prepare torpedos,fits into boat & start moving towards gunboat in night.But, due to thunderstrom their boat sinks & they captured by gunship crew. Gunship crew ask them how they reach here , what is there motive , when Charlie & Rose tells them about their mission , crew laughs & order to hang them. When crew start hanging them , Charlie ask them to marry , they agrees. During this , gunship moves over sunken african queen which hits it with torpedos & whole gunship sinks.

Rose & Charlie escape luckily .

Movie is really good particularly their journey in lake , their rommance ,survival & good acting both lead actors.

I will rate it 8/10.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheoenix

come on kids , let’s run to nearby theatre , your dear Harry & his army of Pheonix is back, just kidding. Seriously , the movie ain’t for kids since story shows they grown up & acting like that.

This time our dear Harry traines his small army to fight against Voldemort in the premisis of Hogwards. Hogwards witness new staff as “Dolores” with her strict manner & punishment truma. After wards climax Harry get control over his mind before loosing it to Voldemort to kill him till death.

Some says it’s foolish to see on & on those magic stick & other adventures & story needs to grow up ,agree but I felt movie script was little loose on that you can’t stick till the end . While watching it at “Inox” on 2nd day after release during the show few left the shows, family came with small kids disappointed , passing on comments ” hold it son – soon the magic/action will come ” . An insider from ticket sales told me that film is not drawing as expected business after 2 days atleast on multiplex side .

Film’s good things are good performance by Harry & Luna Lovegood ( specially little lengthy role than other characters). Plus , credits also goes to Dolores ( Imelda Staunton) for her brilliant onscreen acting. Oh yes , Harry kissing Cho .

I will rate it 4/10 , may be you can wait for DvD if you not that die hard to catch it on cinema.

Die hard 4.0

Sequel & more sequels , here we going to see 4th installment of Die hard series after 12 years gap.

Story isn’t having much deep soul , it has same John McClane (Bruce wills) with his daughter Lucy. Then there is Matt Farrell(Justin Long) a hacker who comes under attack from Mai Linh(Maggie Q) & her associates. John is hired to give protection to Farrell. But,Mai kills other hacker friends of Farrell & also runs behind him.

After that , a former programmer from defence dept namely Thomas Gabriel starts attack & breach in Govt. dept. & goes nuts to show his power. In btw , hunt to kill Farrell is going on & our great hero always saves him with super power & his bald head punch. Film having good action scenes , special was that banging car on helicopter,aah with good dialogues & one liners specially on side of Bruce Wills.

Movie having lots of goofs there , like they showed Gabriel spread virus in hacker’s computer which trigger “pre-fitted” bomb located in open CPU & easily noticable, such geeks never let their gizmo such touchable so that every one get spooky with it & plant bomb there.

Then there is scene which shows Gabriel sends gas flow to Power hub to blow up which shows gas runs burning & running towards Bruce by seconds & in stage wise , scietifically gas burns in whole stage not just at one stage but whole where it spreaded.

Another scene where F-35 fires missile towards Bruce who flying under mega flyover , now wht happens missle miss the target which actully follow the heat rays from target , wtf . well that not stops , missle hits the support of Flyover & slab of concrit structure falls in slow motion from just 1 side & follow to other like it falls of playing cards, wow.

And the funniest scene was when Garbriel & bruce meet at NSA server farm building (which contains whole back up data of securities & other govt. agency ) has so small security mens ,sigh. Then, film moves shows shots filmed in night , but when Bruce comes out there & Voilaa , it turns full sunlight , may be that should be morning but car chase shows full sunlight with shadow of back mirror on car.

I will give it 6 /10 .

The last Mimzy(2007)

21st century can show you different innovation & future belongs to nano-technology (thats also only dominated by “Intel inside”) thats the main message of this film, wait a second , you gotta kidding right , no I am right.

so far the film shows story of a family of 4 persons includes Emma (girl) , Noah(boy) & their parents. In easter holidays they goes to beach house located on really good scenic place. While playing on beach both kids find a box which then open up & all mystries starts with them.

Box also give Emma a rabbit doll called “Mimzy” ,Mimzy tells everything to her ,even what going to be in few minutes ,wow ! She also get some spinning stones which generates sphear & shows some special effects extravganza. Noah gets power to hear almost everything & power to move things where he desire ( see super heros are everywhere). And story moves with the scenes of releated to magic story & power failure due to that magic box ( remember “Deja Vu” go to past thingy with power failure scene).

May be Intel were sponsors of film so there is scene which shows FBI research lab finds a nano chip & seeing it with electoro microscope “Intel” logo, wtf.

Film can liked by small children though there isn’t much fun or such thing to see /enjoy .

I will give it 3/10 ( for good acting from small girl Rhiannon Leigh Wryn in the roll of Emma) & some average special effects.

Hostel part 2

Welcome to Sick & Sadist shit , if 1 is still not happy with previous part “Hostel” , here comes the sequel from that series,sigh.

1st part was just introduction of such horror stuff & not briefly woven , but this time Director “Eli Roth” has chosen to tell in brief & more gore style.Though , nothing new in this film (almost same as previous), this time 3 girls goes to Slovakia to enjoy vacation. Same hostel , same passport thing & trouble arrives.

In this movie it shows how such club which is dominated by men & women who are extra rich & live life normally with family across world. When club gets victim, club sends photographs from passport to club memebers & bidding starts for vicitm, highest bidder get into club premisis ,goes to cell , torture victim with his choice of weapons, tools,axes, sword , carpainter show,drill , etc.

Club works on business model & having certain rules (though broken with certain situation). This movie is relly hell gore & violence that you can’t imagine in horror/sadist movie ,still movie got rated R for viewers. There are scenes like women club member takes on bath tub, her victim hangs on top of her , she use such cutter shit on vicitm, blood falls over her naked body, she cuts her neck. Another scene where member cuts girl’s head with carpainter’s cutting drill, yuck.

If you want to know how gore movie can go ,see this shit for sure, I really don’t know how can Tarantino’s name is in Producers list in such “Crap shit” .

Spiderman 3

There is lot of buzz of Venom,green goblin & other villans , oh well as Spiderman also.This time reports are saying movie budget has crossed almost 350 million $ , plus the publicity & other expenses has shooted budget to total 500 million $, WoW.

Just before the release Sony released the Spiderman 2.1 DvD in the market to create more splash. Now, whts funny is that some “clever pirates putted these DvDs in the market saying as “Spiderman 3 DvD” with just 1 $ price tag, LoL.

Sam Raimi says he is not sure about next Spiderman 4 direction , but cast says including Tobey & Dust to do project schedule release in 2011,too long .

The Bridge on the River Kwai -(1957)

Movie is about world war 2 era when Japan was marching towards other asian countries. Opening sequence is about prisioners camp in Burma(Thailand) where Japanese army holding POWs for their rail road project connecting Bangkok to Rangoon. Here, camp is under Colonel Saito who has good enough pressure to construct the bridge in certain time limit.

Saito welcomes british pows under Colonel Nicholson who join them after surrender in war. Saito inform & warn about their new home (camp) . Camp also having other milatary man like American navy Commander(actully sailor) Shears & Medical man Clipton. Saito orders british pows to work including officers. But, Nicholson shouts about “Geneva conventions” before Saito & refuse to do work among officers. Angry Saito put all officers in “oven”(cell) , but courageous Nicholson set example of his brevery. After ,unsuccessful attempts to build bridge & some advice from Clipton results in release of all officers.

On the anniversary of Japan-Russia , Saito allow Nich’s demand of not doing work . Then, tired of mounting pressure of time line , Saito allow Nich & his officers’s bridge model & the way he want to work. Nich’s motto behind doing this is to make pows working with some hope & set an example before Japs that britis can make better bridges. Meanwhile , Shears manage to escape from camp & reaches to Colombo,Sri lanka. As he cheted , he putted in mission towards camp with company of 2 other man & local team. Their mission is to blow bridge which Nich & his british pows making in full swing.

Rest is about their mission planing & acomplish of target bridge.

Movie shot in Sri Lanka (Ceylon, remember Radio Ceylon). Generally , we see bridge falling scenes using model train & bridge ,but director did shot it with real bridge & train (perfactionist, aah) . when so much hard work is done , no wonder it won 7 Oscar awards including best director(David Lean), best actor,best cinematography( beautiful , exact lights) ,best picture (no doubt), best film editing, best music & best adapted screenplay.

really good film.
